Rapid Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles by a Marine-derived Fungus Aspergillus Niger and their Antimicrobial Potentials
Recently, biosynthesis of nanoparticles has received attention due to an increasing need of developing rapid, simple and ecofriendly protocol. Pathogenicity of some of the organisms and lengthy reaction are the drawbacks involved with biosynthesis. We describe a simple protocol for rapid synthesis of silver nanoparticles through biological route using a marine-derived fungus Aspergillus niger. ...
متن کاملProduction of a capsular polysaccharide by a marine filamentous fungus.
The spent seawater medium of 4-day-old-cultures of the filamentous marine fungus Leptosphaeria albopunctata had a high viscosity after the fungus was collected by high-speed centrifugation. Microscopic examination of uncentrifuged mycelium suspended in India ink revealed that the viscosity resulted from capsular material. These capsules became disassociated from the mycelium during centrifugati...
متن کاملChemotaxis in the Marine Fungus Rhizophydium littoreum.
Zoospores of the marine chytrid Rhizophydium littoreum are attracted to a variety of substances common to their environment. In general, carbohydrates and polysaccharides elicited strong concentration-dependent positive responses. There was no direct correlation between all substances used as foods and those stimulating positive responses. The chemotactic activities of this organism should, how...
متن کاملNovel antifungal diketopiperazine from marine fungus.
Marine fungi producing antifungal compounds were screened against Pyricularia oryzae (P. oryzae), and a metabolite of marine fungus M-3 isolated from laver (Porphyra yezoensis) showed potent activity. Novel diketopiperazine (1) was isolated from the culture extracts, and its structure was elucidated by spectroscopic methods. The MIC of 1 against P. oryzae was 0.36 microM.
متن کاملFungicidal compounds from a marine Ascidian - associated fungus
A marine Ascidian-associated fungus, Trichoderma harzianum, (NIO/BCC2000-51) was assessed for its in vitro antagonistic activity against ten fungal phytopathogens and three food-infesting fungi. Fractionation of the cell-free culture filtrate of T. harzianum (NIO/BCC2000-51) showed its ethyl acetate (EA) fraction to be significantly active against fungal phytopathogens; Macrophomina sp, Pyricul...
